This is Jessica Wilson right after she helped buzz my VERY long hair.

The 2015 Children’s Miracle Network Champion and I.

Some think our lives really don’t make a difference in this big world.

Out of ‘the mouth of babes’, here are Jessica’s own words…

I feel that it is very important to get the word out about this cause because for me and so many others, it’s the fundraising and donations raised/given by ladies like Angela Redekop and so many others that save our lives. Without these fundraisers and donations the technology and so much more at the hospitals like McMaster Children’s Hospital, that help to save our lives by doing very difficult procedures etc, would not exist.
The other day I had someone ask me how a two dollar donation could possibly make a difference. And I found myself explaining to this person that even just two dollars is worth the world to kids and their family’s, like me and mine. Those two dollars means that we are two dollars closer to getting the newest best technology and equipment. And if you considered the idea that everyone donated two dollars, then we would have a lot of money raised for this amazing cause.

I can personally say thank you for all of this, why…. Well I have been battling some quite serious health issues that disable my ability to eat on a regular basis. I have spent just about five years doing tests and procedures to find out why I’m sick, and temporarily fix the issue. Just now four and a half years later I have finally been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, and will see what is to come now.
What I can tell you is that it’s people like Angela, Lisa, other Walmart Canada  associates, donors and other families and  kids who keep these fundraisers going, thereby keeping my spirits up! Thanks to them I find myself in a good place where I feel like I am both happy, and making a difference in other people’s life.
For me from here I know that for the rest of my life I will help kids like me.
Because it is all about knowing that as people we are not defined by our illnesses or physical image, but by our morals and ability to persevere through challenges with grace and power. Because at the end of the day, the world keeps spinning with or without us, and it’s about making sure that we fight our hardest to keep going, keep succeeding, keep dreaming, and to always live, love, laugh and prosper!
