HER ARRIVAL

DSCF1876

My youngest son and his love were told they may not have a chance to hold their precious  Aria when she would be born.

With the Dr.’s and all the medical staff that will be at the delivery, Aria would be whisked away as soon as her birth to have major surgery to deal with the bowel blockage that she was born with, and to deal with the four holes in her heart.

That was hard for my daughter in love. Knowing that she may not be able to hold her precious baby.  Depending on the surgery she had and if my dil would have a c section, she would not be able to see Aria let alone hold her because of her own surgery and the complications it can have with a baby that has just experienced so many procedures. The risk of infection being passed from one to the other is high.

Friday before Mother’s Day, they had an appointment at McMaster Children’s Hospital with all the Dr.’s that would be assisting with the arrival of Aria Jean Patricia’s birth. They had set a date for having her induced a week before her due date which was June 9th, my daughter in law’s birthday, three weeks away.

That night after her shower, my daughter in love’s water broke.

We got the call at 8:30 pm. Randy headed over there to take her and my son to the closest hospital.

Our hospital is not equipped, so she was rushed by ambulance to another hospital 20 minutes away. By that time they checked to see if she was ready to deliver or not and thank God she wasn’t. So they rushed her by ambulance again an hour and a half away to McMaster Children’s Hospital.

Our son texted us to let us know to follow along and meet them at the Hospital.

I packed my Bible, my devotional, a pillow, and some socks…..lol

Didn’t need the socks, but so thankful for that pillow to rest and get some sleep as we waited, and always thankful for God’s Word!~

We arrived at the hospital at 11:30 pm.

Our son was able to come out and see us for a few minutes before going back to be with his love while they waited for Aria Jean Patricia’s arrival.

I knew it could be a long haul and wondered how many hours it would be before we heard anything.

At 4:30 a.m. I received a text….

DSCF1487

I cried. With joy.

Aria made it and my son was able to hold his beautiful little girl.

They were able to be with their precious one for a good hour before she was taken away.

Her major surgery for the bowel blockage did not come about until two days later, on our wedding anniversary. She came through with flying colour. My daughter in love was able to see her beautiful girl and hold her♥

Aria Fierce

Aria has had a few other procedures, presently she has a g tube  for feedings. With  her heart condition she was exerting so much energy and got so tired with the bottle feedings that she was not gaining like she needed too.

The arrival our precious Aria Jean Patricia definitely has changed our lives.

I still have not held her yet. There hasn’t been a ‘perfect’ time.  When I’ve gone it’s been either she is feeding or sleeping♥ ♥ I don’t care though, because one day will be the perfect day and until than I can still stare at her for hours, and kiss her toes♥

THEY KNEW

DSCF1347

Two days before Mother’s Day, my youngest son and my future daughter in love (I’m getting ahead of myself with that part of the story) were at McMaster Children’s Hospital.

After hours of having tests and ultra sounds done on Samantha they were given the worse case scenario of what may happen to their precious daughter Aria Jean Patricia.  Before the birth and after.

As many who have been in the same seat as these two after being given this type of news, they were asked if after Aria’s birth, did they want the medical staff to resuscitate.

I always get chocked up on that part of this story.

I get chocked up because of what Samantha said to me when she told  me this part of the story.

She said, “Asher said, she is our daughter and we will love her no matter what.” She proceeded to tell me that when he said those words, she knew that she could face anything with him by her side.

Our precious Aria Jean Patricia sure does have an amazing story of love♥

That Mother’s Day we gathered around for a BQQ at my parents.  We celebrated.

Our first Mother’s Day as a mom, grandmother and great grand mothers♥

Samantha’s rule was no one was going to talk about that meeting that took place on Friday.

We didn’t.

We didn’t need too♥

The only thing that did come up was Samantha and Asher had decided not to have the test done to find out if Aria would have Down’s Syndrome or not.

Samantha did not want to risk after having this test, it could bring on labor.

“The longer she can make it to term, the better it will be for her. Who cares if she has Down’s Syndrome or not. It’s all the other stuff, the health issues that scars me.”

I let Samantha know that no matter what she was going to face, it was going to be ok.  She was a mighty warrior mama and would do whatever it took. I told her she was already doing that just by all the decisions that they were making for this precious wee one.

I’m so thankful for that Mother’s Day BBQ.

We all needed it.  We have a beautiful story to tell Aria also♥

One filled with love love love♥

AFFIRMATIONS

I can fly

Circumstances do not create my emotional state they only magnify the emotional patterns that I already have. I take 100% responsibility over what I think, feel, say and do. I take 100% responsibility for the state of mind that I am in. My emotional health is my responsibility.

You can NEVER make your happiness depend on what someone else does or does not do. How I feel is 100% from what gets my attention and 100% of what I say to myself. As a believer I have 100% authority over my state of mind and being.

What am I saying to myself?

“I am a woman of excellence.

I will magnify the Lord. The word of the LORD is within me. Even in my mouth. I have the mind of CHRIST. Christ in me is the hope of glory.

I am the head and not the tail.

I love myself too much to allow illness and disease of depression and emotional eating to defeat me.

No fear shall over take me. I am strong in the power of my Lord’s might.

I magnify the Lord and exalt His name.

I can do all things through HIM who gives me strength.

From everlasting to everlasting my Lord’s love is with me as I reverence HIM, and HIS righteousness with my children’s children.

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying; I have loved you with an everlasting love and have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

Now, Father. I give myself permission to want to be happy and look beautifully.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am Your beloved in whom You are well pleased….hallelujah!~………(thank you Debbie Gilbert♥)

THINGS ARE DIFFERENT

down's syndrome poem

Aria is three months old today!~♥

What JOY!~♥

DSCF1876

I’ve been busy washing and folding clothes.

Being a Nana that is covering her son and his little family with love and support♥

Samantha, my daughter in love said to me yesterday, ‘you love doing this don’t you?”

I’ve always  loved washing baby clothes♥

Folding, holding it close to my heart and giving God praise for the blessing that fits into these little clothes.

Today I’ve been also crying as I’ve folded these clothes.

Tears of joy, and also tears of sadness.

When our babies are born, there is joy, there is jubilation and our precious one begins their life with us as a family.

That is for the majority of us.

Than there are those that, sometimes before birth or after,  they know things will be different.

We have joy, we have jubilation over the birth of this child, and we have ‘how do we become a family to meet the needs of this child who has challenges, and obstacles that they must face for the rest of their lives?

We don’t get to take them home within a few days. Some are unable to even hold this precious child. Tests upon tests, procedures upon procedures are done to give this precious child the opportunity to survive.

Each day can be a fight for their very breath. Each and every day they inspire those around them to rise up to the challenge and live a victorious life.

I have not been able to old my precious grand baby yet (maybe today???….♥), I have not been able to take her for a walk in the buggy. My goodness gracious, she had her very first walk in the buggy outside with her Mommy and Daddy yesterday. YAHOOOO♥ What joy♥  She still has hasn’t had a bath, just sponge baths.  I’m prepared though for when that time comes. Spider man hooded towel and bath tub at Nana’s waiting for that day♥

Things are so different. Not what we expected. No easy pregnancy, delivery and homecoming.

My goodness gracious, Aria’s first homecoming was absolutely heart wrenching, fearful and filled with worry. Those 24 hours of her coming home was hell for all three of this little family. The next day, we drove her and her mommy back to McMaster Children’s Hospital where  for 10 hours later in the ER they admitted her back to NICU where Samantha and Aria stayed for three more weeks.

Aria Fierce

Things may be different for us but oh the JOY in having this wee one in our lives.

I’ve already told her that she is the strongest person I’ve ever met in my entire life.

Now I’m off to drop off the clothes and sing Happy Birthday to Aria…♥

DOING SOME SOUL SEARCHING

I can fly

Just got back in from sitting out on the deck and working in my Spirit Edition Toolbook.

I also ended up watering my garden.

Weeds GALORE have sprouted out in some areas.

Just like life, there is always something that is going to try strangle out areas of our enrichment.

This is what I wrote in my Toolbook tonight:

“Need to focus on my deliverance, my vindication, my victory, my reward♥

Enrichment makes something more meaningful, substantial, or rewarding.

I am so determined and focused on achieving goal body.

Will I achieve it by the end of December?

Well I’m hoping for my first goal body but I have MORE goal body I plan on achieving….

Lean, mean fighting machine…HOOT HOOT…lol♥

I’M IN A DEPRESSION

04-book-soft-cover

Thanks to my Daily Radar, I’ve been able to notice that I have slipped into a depressed state.

Haven’t exercised in two weeks.

I LOVE my daily walks and also runs.

I’m achy. My body is hurting.

I am not sleeping well.

I’m tired.

I’m thankful for the tools that are out there to help me through this….

Here is what’s on the chalkboard at the College for this week….

“The best way out of a difficulty is through it.”

I broke a 48 hour fast with a wonderful salmon meal♥

Sometimes you fast NOT because you want to only lose physical weight, but a whole bunch of other ‘weights’…mental, emotional, spiritual.

It’s been an enriched day for me  because I’m acknowledging I’m struggling with depression and everything is going to be ok.

What about you, how did you enrich?

blessings, angela
